Social Skills Training in Natural Settings
This program is designed for children ages 3 – 6 with mild to moderate special needs. We believe there is a great benefit in teaching social skills in natural settings and situations that reflect the real-life interactions your children experience. Natural play settings are rich with social learning possibilities. Whenever the opportunity arises we use spontaneous and informal social skills interventions. These interventions can be delivered across different natural play situations where children encounter different social demands. We choose the activities (lessons/goals) based on the challenges of the individual children and the needs of the group as a whole. Social skills training is reinforced with many behavioral rehearsal opportunities; consistent practice promotes the occurrence, fluency and mastery of positive social behavior. We believe that there is a direct relationship between the amount and quality of social skills training and change in social behavior. When children’s social skills begin to improve, we intensify and increase the training to support both practice and repeated success.
Our Kindergarten Readiness Program is designed to enhance your child’s ability to follow multi-step directions, number and letter recognition, collaborative learning skills, socialization and management of kindergarten school routines. We follow a structured daily schedule with a Kindergarten level academic program with concrete standards and goals, which build self-discipline, focus and enthusiasm for academic challenge. Our students learn to work with other children on group projects and activities and they develop school communication skills, with adults and their classmates. Excellent for younger gifted students. The best part of our program is how much fun it is!

Positive Steps Program
Does your child need extra support with following directions, emotional regulation, attention or socialization? Our Positive Steps Program helps children develop the skills they need to have an enjoyable and productive experience in the classroom or other highly stimulating settings. Positive Steps is designed for first and second grade students who need practice complying with rules, following adult directives, collaborating with others when playing and learning, making friends, seeking positive attention, managing transitions and day-to-day productive problem-solving.

All of our social skills groups target social pragmatic skills that support social successes for children. The skills for social communication can be most effectively taught and learned in small groups conducted in structured and supportive natural settings. A more organic setting allows for many opportunities to generalize information as situations spontaneously present themselves, the same way they do at school or at a birthday party. Positive and socially acceptable strategies and techniques are presented to the children as a problem arises through natural play. Professional staff members help the children break down potentially complex and confusing tasks into more concrete steps for making and keeping friends. Developing meaningful friendships can be nurtured through positive reinforcement and social coaching.
Small Group Size Enhances Social Learning
The size of our social skills groups is designed to be small enough to support individual growth and large enough to support friendships. Groups will range from 6-9 children depending on the age of the children and the level of intervention and support that is needed for each child to reach his or her optimal social learning level. A child-to-adult ratio of 3:1 will enable us to meet each child’s individual needs.
